GFA holds congress amid wait for CAS verdict today

1 min read

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will hold its 26th Ordinary Congress today at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence at Prampram today.
The key event on the Ghana football calendar was earlier expected to be held via video congress last Thursday, 27th August 2020 but had rescheduled to today 1st September.
This was after Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo’s announcement of lifting the restriction placed on public gatherings due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
Congress is the highest decision body of the country’s football administration and will deliberate of issues affecting the game ahead of the new football campaign.
Interestingly, the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) is expected to release its verdict on the case between Tema Youth president, Wilfred Osei Kwaku ‘Palmer’ and the GFA.
The case which could change the direction of Ghana football most especially in terms of administration has seen several postponements for no apparent reason.
Well, the adjudicatory body has given today as the date for the final verdict to put the case to bed but the question lingers on; Will today finally bring closure to the case that has cast dark clouds over Ghana football or there might be another postponement?
Whatever the case may be, today is definitely a very important date for all stakeholders in the local game.
